What Campers Do All Week
Every morning campers head into the studio with working producers and musicians. By the end of the week they have made a record together — and played it live.
Gear we bring: beat pads, synthesizers, DJ controllers, guitars, keyboards, drums, mics and a full live rig. No experience needed — we meet every camper where they are.

Afternoons and evenings are pure summer camp: kayaks, hiking, archery and the zipline on 300 acres of forest and lakefront on Fish Lake, cabins with counselors, and campfires every night.

Registration runs through the Detroit YMCA. Our program is listed there as “Music Empowerment Camp” — that's us.

- 2 Scroll to the session list, find Overnight Camp B · Wizarding World (June 27 – July 2, 2027) and click Register.
- 3 Create a free YMCA online account, or sign in if you already have one. YMCA membership is not required. After you create your account you land on the Week B enrollment page.
- 4 Under Add-On Activities, choose “Music Empowerment Camp” — that's us. Without this add-on your camper is in regular overnight camp, not the studio.
- 5 Check out with the $100 non-refundable deposit to hold the spot — by April 10, 2027. Then watch for an email from Epact and finish your camper forms at least one week before camp.
Every Kid Deserves This Week
Cost should never be the reason a young artist stays home. The Boredomfighters Foundation offers partial and full scholarships for Studio Adventure Camp Michigan. We've sent 225 kids to camp since 2018.

Questions
Does my kid need music experience?
No. Music Discovery Week is built for first-timers, and we meet every camper where they are, from beginners to kids already making beats at home.
Who runs the studio?
A crew of Boredomfighters producers, musicians and educators. We will announce the Michigan lineup soon.
What should they bring?
Sleeping bag or twin sheets + pillow, towel, toiletries, 6 days of clothes, a warm layer and rain jacket, swimsuit, sneakers and closed-toe shoes, sunscreen, bug spray, a refillable water bottle and a flashlight. For the studio: headphones, plus any instrument or laptop they already use. Label everything with your camper’s name.
What if we need to cancel?
The $100 deposit is non-refundable. Cancellations on or after April 1, 2027 carry an extra $50 fee, and requests less than 7 days before camp are not eligible for a refund. Full policy at ymcadetroit.org/camp.

How old do campers need to be?
Studio Adventure Camp is for campers ages 8–16, and the group is capped at 25.
