Why is there an application?
Each week is a small crew. The application helps us get to know your camper, match them to the right group, and build a week where everyone thrives. It is not an audition — beginners are welcome.
Does my kid need music experience?
No. Music Discovery Week is built for first-timers, and we meet every camper where they are.
Which week is right for my camper?
Music Discovery Week is the best first step for curious beginners. Producers Week is for campers already making beats, writing songs or performing who want pro-level coaching, feedback and help releasing their music.
Who runs the studio?
A crew of Boredomfighters producers, musicians and educators, plus guest artists. Past guest counselors include Bloomurian, Gar Den Boi, Jordan Dale, Paige Fire Flow and Wavalate. The 2027 lineup is coming soon.
Can I get help paying?
Yes, two ways: check the scholarship box on the application to be considered for a Boredomfighters full-ride scholarship, and request YMCA financial assistance through Camp Shady Brook when you enroll.
What if the week is full?
Apply anyway. We keep a waitlist for both weeks, and plans change every summer.
How old do campers need to be?
Both weeks are for campers ages 8–16, capped at 15 campers per week.
